Hail damage and what to do about it

Has your car ever sustained hail damage? Living in Central Florida it's definitely not unheard of. We see our fair share of bad weather between hurricane season and our infamous summer thunderstorms. And hail damage is no joke - it can leave your car looking very worse for the wear in a matter of minutes. Our Clermont Toyota body shop is here to discuss hail damage and how to deal with it.

Toyota of Clermont body shop tips

Hail damage to your car can cause serious damage

Tip #1: Try to prevent it if you can. We know, we know - not really a tip on how to fix hail damage. But honestly, doing everything you can to avoid this type of damage to your Clermont Toyota is in your best interest. Keep an eye on the weather in the summer and if we're in hurricane season. If you know bad weather is coming, try to park in a garage or carport, or at least under cover to shield off chunks of hail. Even trees can help fend off hail damage in a pinch.

Tip #2: Don't try to fix it yourself. Hail damage isn't easy to fix - it can leave the hood, roof, back, glass, and sides of your car riddled with dings, dents, scratches, cracks, and chips in the paint. It's definitely not something you can DIY (unless you know, you work at a body shop or something). Instead, let the experts at Toyota of Clermont get your car back into like-new condition and get the damage handled the right way.

Tip #3: Bring your car insurance into the mix. Hail damage can be extensive AND expensive. As we noted, it's not something you should try to fix on your own; you want to bring professionals (like the ones at the Toyota of Clermont body shop) in for the repairs. However, you definitely don't want to pay out of pocket if you can help it. Hail damage should be covered through your car insurance under the comprehensive policy. You'll likely have to pay your deductible, but we're willing to bet that number is less than what you'd pay out of pocket for repairs. Call your insurance company to report the damage and schedule an appointment with an appraiser, who will assess your vehicle and determine how much it's going to cost for the insurance company to fix it.

Tip #4: Schedule repairs with us. Get repairs on the books for your car's hail damage as soon as you can. Toyota of Clermont can help restore your car to like-new condition in no time.
